TIRANA, May 28 /ATA/ – Democratic Party (DP) leader reiterated Wednesday that the opposition will never recognize the May 11 election results in Albania, calling the vote fraudulent and stating that “the real battle for free vote is just beginning.”
In a press statement, DP leader claimed that the diaspora vote was “initially nationalized and then manipulated.”
He insisted that the opposition had established evidence of vote manipulation and will be revealed to public soon.
“We will unveil evidence of electoral fraud every day together with the solemn promise that the May 11 elections will never be recognized. Albanians are angry today. Albanians are disappointed. However, thousands of Albanians are ready to fight for the free vote. And this fight will begin. I am calling on Albanians to show patience, because we have the documents. We have done everything to observe your vote. The fight is just beginning. We will never recognize such elections. We will never accept such result,” Berisha stated.
He called for a common front with the diaspora, saying “nobody can impose this farce on Albanians.”
Asked about the U.S. Embassy message that congratulated Albanian people on the parliamentary elections a day ago, Berisha said “the message neither denies nor admits the electoral farce.”
