DP appealed May 11 election results in Kukës, KAS authorized access to out of country voter signature registry

TIRANA, May 27 /ATA/ The Complaints and Sanctions Commission decided today to accept several requests from the Democratic Party regarding the appeal filed for the elections in the Kukës district. The Democratic Party – Alliance for a Magnificent Albania coalition submitted a request to contest the summary table of voting results in the Kukës electoral district for electoral subjects and parliamentary candidates in the May 11 parliamentary elections, as well as to declare the elections in this district null and void and order their repetition.

During the meeting, the Democratic Party representative, Franc Nuri, presented the opposition’s requests regarding the electoral process and urged that its appeal be taken into consideration.

On the other hand, the administration of the Central Election Commission maintained that no violations, whether significant or minor, were identified in the conduct of a duly regulated electoral process.

The CEC representative stated that no incidents have been reported by the police outside the territory, and there are no signs of disruptions to the electoral process.

Meanwhile, the Complaints and Sanctions Commission (KAS) decided not to accept the Democratic Party’s request to cross-check data from “PEI” devices for all polling stations in the Kukës district.

The Democratic Party also requested, via the postal operator, the personally signed registry from each out of country voter, confirming the receipt of the envelope and electoral materials. This request extends beyond Greece to all registered diaspora voters.

Regarding this request, Rusmajli stated that “KAS considers that this request should be accepted at least for Greece, based on the currently available data.”

The Democratic Party has also contested the election results in Berat, Korçë, Gjirokastër, and Vlorë.
