TIRANA, May 22/ATA/ Chief State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi announced today that the platforms of the Central Election Commission have been under cyber-attacks.
Celibashi said during a press conference that, “Today, I can make it public that the CEC platforms, starting with the registration of voters from abroad, have been under cyber-attacks. We have communicated with the relevant institutions such as those of cybersecurity as well as those related to the legal prosecution of these cases, whenever they have been identified”.
Celibashi emphasized that, “According to the data we have, a large part of these attacks have not been amateur, but organized and sophisticated attacks”.
According to Celibashi, these attacks have been carried out all from abroad.
“They have been comparable with the attacks that have occurred in other countries for similar situations in the country such as France, Germany or even Estonia”, said Celibashi.
Asked about the opposition’s allegations of irregularities regarding the out-of-the-country voting process, Celibashi said that external voting has been a model of success in terms of the work administered by the Central Election Commission.
“However, I do not discourage anyone and I recognize everyone’s right to contest it and to present evidence that supports the claims,” said Celibashi while adding that, “On our part, we have all the documentation or other elements that confirm what I said, that this process has been carried out in a model way”.
Regarding the work carried out by the DHL postal service, Celibashi stated that, “We have asked DHL to make available to us all the documentation that will show how the operation of distributing ballots, electoral documentation was carried out anywhere in the world, including Greece.
