TIRANA, May 19/ATA/ Erald Themeli, Director of Monetary Policy at the Bank of Albania, said that, “The Albanian economy continues to show a positive development trend reflected in solid economic growth, low inflation under control, low public debt levels and better labor market indicators.”
According to him, the outlook for the economy’s positive development trend will continue for the next 3 years.
“The economic growth rate for 2024 remained at 4%, largely fueled by the expansion of household consumption and overall investment in the economy, both in the public and private sectors,” Themeli said.
He added that, during 2024, there was an inflation level of 2.2%, slightly below the Central Bank’s target, which is largely related to the restraining effect brought by the rapid strengthening of the exchange rate during 2024.
“For 2025 and beyond, despite the problems that the exchange rate forecast has, we expect a more balanced performance of this indicator in relation to the developments that have been observed in the last two years, which means that even the restraining effect on inflation that we had in 2023 and 2024 will no longer be so strong in the future”, said Themeli.
According to him, the increase in exports, the positive performance of tourism will support economic growth in addition to the already evident expansion of activity, mainly in the service and construction sectors. /j.p/p.s./
