SP: Election result is crystal clear, counting delays unjustifiable

TIRANA, May 12/ATA/ The Socialist Party’s election spokesperson Silda Çepe said today during a statement to reporters from the SP headquarters that, “More than 40% of the votes have been counted and the result of the May 11 general elections has become crystal clear to everyone, just like the sun on this spring day”.

The SP’s election spokesperson said that, “It is difficult to find the proper words to thank all the citizens who fulfilled their democratic and patriotic duty, by voting en masse, with a significant turnout, inside and outside the homeland, regardless of who they voted for”.

“We also thank those thousands of commissioners and observers of the polling stations, who guaranteed a calm and standard voting process, despite some sporadic attempts, both artificial and ridiculous, to create unnecessary chaos”, Çepe said.

“Now, it is high time to bring this beautiful exercise of democracy to a close with civic dignity and legal conviction. The delays in the counting process are unjustifiable in the eyes of the people and political influences on the counters are harmful to them,” she added.

The SP elections spokesperson underlined the fact that, “Every vote must be counted with respect and humility for every voter, so she called on all commissioners and counters to respect the law and continue working to successfully conclude the process with the highest possible standards until the final announcement of the result, without falling prey to political influences and without playing with the fire of the law.” /e.i/ /a.g/p.s./
