TIRANA, May 4/ATA/ The agreement on mutual recognition of pension contributions between Albania and Italy is expected to enter into force and start implementation in June. Over 500 thousand Albanians and a large number of Italian citizens are expected to benefit from this agreement.
In an interview for ATA, Tresjana Elmazi, representative of the Assistance Center, UIM Albania, said that from this agreement benefit all those people who have social insurance contributions both in Albania (minimum 15 years) and in Italy (min 20 years).
She added that, “The agreement is expected to enter into force one month after the exchange of ratification acts between the two countries, in June.
According to her, “For the Italian pension, we have direct access to the Italian Social Insurance Institute and we can verify the contributions that the person has paid in Italy.
“For the Albanian part, we can access e-Albania and do the verification”, Elmazi emphasized.
According to her, many people have shown interest in the UIM Albania offices to get to know how this agreement works.
Elmazi said that these retired people will receive initially two pensions.
The UIM Albania representative emphasized in the interview for ATA that the Italian pension will not be attached to the pension in Albania, but will be separate. “The calculation (pro rata) will also be separate. That is, it will not affect the amount you receive from each country,” she said.
“Italian citizens come to Albania because, as we know, the pension here is not taxed,” Elmazi said. /p.s./
