TIRANA, April 22 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama stated Tuesday that the ruling Socialists draws strongest support from women voters, underlining that 56% of the SP’s support comes from women, rising to 65% in some districts.
Speaking at an electoral campaign meeting in southern Albanian municipality of Gjirokaster, PM Rama said that his Socialist Party (SP) has promoted women empowerment and representation level in the country.
“SP women’s membership has grown to 40% now, but we won’t stop until women membership within SP grows to 50%,” Rama stated.
The government head also commented on results of a new poll by McLaughlin & Associates, in collaboration with an Albanian TV channel. The poll showed that the Socialists lead ahead of May 11 elections.
“He is one of the best pollsters in America and for the sake of truth in America he insisted that public opinion was leaning towards Trump, while the vast majority of polls insisted otherwise, and he proved right. I was curious to see what he had drawn as a conclusion from the first poll,” Rama said.
He also criticized the domestic media landscape, calling it a “swamp” that feeds the public distorted interpretations of polling data. Rama pointed to continued positive evaluations from the EU and other international institutions as evidence that the country is on the right path.
