TIRANA, April 12 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama, also leader of the ruling Socialist Party, stated Saturday that May 11 parliamentary election represents the historic chance for Albania to take its final step towards uniting with Europe.
Addressing an event marking the official launch of the campaign for the next month’s polls, the government head said that Albania’s Socialists and progressists will embark on the final uphill path towards Europe.
Socialist leader will now take four more years for the ruling Socialists to “win the historic bet with Europe for Albania and with Albania for Europe.”
Rama said that about 100 years ago, a European traveller wrote: “Although it takes just few hours’ sailing between Italy and Albania, as you land on its shores you would think this country was not Europe, but Asia.”
However, “today we have the historic chance to take the final step towards unification with Europe and the irrevocable separation from Asia.”
