TIRANA, April 10 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that since Emmanuel Macron’s election as President of France, the country’s focus on the Balkans, and especially on Albania, has grown.
During the opening ceremony of the “Art Explora Festival” in Durrës, which will feature a variety of artistic and cultural activities including festivals, exhibitions, concerts, and performances aimed at bringing art closer to the Albanian public, Rama remarked that the presence of the French flag in Albania is becoming more and more commonplace. He also announced that President Macron will return to Tirana in a few weeks.
“When we refer to the French flag, it is now an image that is becoming increasingly common. However, this was not the case not long ago, when France seemed distant and looked at the Balkans from a far-off point of view. I must say that since the current president took office at the Élysée, there has been a growing fascination with this region and Albania in particular,” said Rama.
“Because of this openness,” he added, “we saw a French president visit Albania for the first time since the establishment of the French Empire.”
Rama highlighted that in just over a century since the establishment of the Albanian state, this is the first time a French president has graced us with his presence, and he will return in a few weeks, with ‘Art Explora’ also coming to Albania.
Rama expressed conviction that the “Art Explora” catamaran-museum will draw a significant number of visitors.
He said, “This is a pivotal moment for the city, providing a fantastic opportunity for all students and citizens to visit this small village of dreams. The number of visitors will surpass the capacity of this infrastructure.”
