TIRANA, April 8 /ATA/ -By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Tuesday that Albania is fully aligned with the European Union’s foreign policy, highlighting the ambitious calendar agreed upon with the European Commission to conclude membership negotiations by 2027.
In a joint press conference with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, Prime Minister Rama emphasized that there are no outstanding issues between Albania and the European Union.
“We had a very constructive meeting, as always. As the Vice President mentioned, there are no issues or unresolved matters between us and the EU. On the contrary, we are fully aligned in every regard, which is clearly demonstrated by the foreign policy of the Republic of Albania, fully in line with the EU’s foreign policy,” said Rama.
The Prime Minister informed that the discussion with the High Representative of the EU also touched on the major challenge of the process towards EU membership, as well as the very ambitious timeline agreed upon with the Commission to conclude the negotiations by 2027.
Rama also emphasized that the region and its issues were part of the conversation, particularly given the critical need for unity and stability throughout the region.
“Thankfully, all the countries share the strategic goal of EU membership, and this objective serves as a crucial and beneficial reference point to better understand the current political landscape and the collective steps we must take in our daily actions. This is not just about each of us joining the EU, but about ensuring that the entire region becomes an integral part of the united European family,” Rama added.
