TIRANA, April 8 /ATA/ Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Anila Denaj promised today to improve traceability and control systems for food products.
In a television interview, Denaj spoke about food safety in the country and specifically about the case of a shipment of chicken fillets, which were found to contain salmonella and which were put on the Albanian market.
Denaj said that, “In this specific case, the National Food Agency identified the salmonella, but we encountered some difficulties and for this reason we referred the case to the Prosecutor’s Office”.
Minister Denaj emphasized that cases like these put the institution before the responsibility to change some internal organizations.
“One of the measures to be taken is to increase the awareness of the Inspectorate, in the specific case of the National Food Agency. Also, in the spirit of a new law approved in September last year in the Albanian Parliament, I believe that we shall be able to improve all traceability and control systems in the future”, emphasized Denaj. /k.s/r.e/a.f/p.s./
