Eid al-Fitr, Spiropali: Religious Tolerance is a reality

TIRANA, March 30 /ATA/ Parliament Speaker, Elisa Spiropali, visited the headquarters of the Muslim Community to offer her Eid al-Fitr greetings.

After extending her greetings to the Chairman of the Muslim Community of Albania, Bujar Spahiu, and the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Muhamed bin Abdulkerim el-Isa, Spiropali, in a media briefing, wished the Muslim faithful and all Albanians a happy Eid.

In a media statement, Spiropali said that religious tolerance among communities in Albania is a reality, not just a slogan. She added that the Muslim Community is a factor that promotes religious harmony.

“This is a day that brings us together, following a month of fasting, sacrifice, and prayers during Ramadan. Muslim believers gather to honor their sacrifices and prayers. Yet, this day goes beyond the Muslim community, and I want to take this opprtunity to wish all Albanians, both here in Albania and in the Diaspora, as well as in all Albanian regions—Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, the Preševo Valley, Greece, and beyond. We have always shared in these joyful celebrations, regardless of religious faiths, and this is a clear demonstration of genuine tolerance and brotherhood among Albanian communities, not just a slogan,” she said.

“Furthermore, I would like to extend my best wishes to the Albanian Muslim Community, a community that exemplifies tolerance and the finest values of our people. It is a community that serves as a force for progress, fostering religious harmony instead of division, and striving to bring everyone together during celebrations, regardless of their religious beliefs. In conclusion, I wish all Albanians, regardless of their faith—especially the Muslims and all others—health, happiness, prosperity, and an abundance of love in their lives. Happy Eid to those who always welcome us after our meetings,” stated Spiropali.

After a month of fasting and prayers, Muslim believers are celebrating Eid al-Fitr today. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan. The name “Eid al-Fitr” refers to the act of Muslims giving charity before the holiday, demonstrating solidarity with the less fortunate, and coming together to celebrate this day, returning to natural ways of life.
