Austrian ambassadors to Western Balkan countries meet with SPAK representatives

TIRANA, March 20 /ATA/ – Austrian ambassadors to the Western Balkan countries on Thursday met with Albania’s Special Anticorruption and Anticrime Prosecution Structure (SPAK) in Tirana, where they attended this year’s conference of Austrian diplomats in the region.

Press office at the Austrian Embassy in Tirana said in a post on the social media that Austria is clearly committed to Albania’s European Union perspective and strongly supports implementation of the judicial reform in the country.

“A few months ago, the path was paved for comprehensive EU accession negotiations with Albania. Austria is clearly committed to Albania’s EU perspective and, among other things, supports the implementation of judicial reform. The Austrian ambassadors to the Western Balkans region also exchanged views with SPAK representatives during their conference in Tirana,” the Embassy said.

“SPAK’s independence in investigating, prosecuting, and adjudicating cases of high-level corruption and organized crime is of central importance to the efforts to establish the rule of law in Albania,” Austrian Embassy concluded.
