TIRANA, March 13 /ATA/ The EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, described parliamentary elections as one of the most important processes of democracy for any country and expressed confidence that the May 11 elections in Albania will be free and fair.
In a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama today in Tirana, Kos said, “Parliamentary elections are one of the most important processes in democracy for any country; it is the citizens’ right to exercise their democratic duty by voting. I hope there will be a high voter turnout in these elections.”
Referring to the May 11 elections in Albania, Kos expressed conviction that “the elections will be free and fair,” and as she stated, “this will be made possible.”
Kos highlighted the opportunity for Albanians living abroad to cast their vote in these elections.
“We hope that this entire campaign will, in some way, reflect the aspirations of all Albanian citizens to make Albania an EU member, and that everyone will engage in this campaign, expressing through their vote what matters most as well as the principles and foundations of democracy,” said Kos. /j.p/sm/
