TIRANA, March 13 /ATA/ – Albania’s main opposition Democratic Party (DP) leader Sali Berisha pledged Friday to support major investments in infrastructure if he wins May 11 parliamentary elections.
Unveiling the DP program on infrastructure and transport ahead of the upcoming general elections, Berisha said that a future centre-right government will support a program designed to transform the country’s national road infrastructure.
The opposition leader highlighted a series of infrastructure project, including Milot-Lezhë-Shkodër highway and expansion of Tirana-Durres highway.
Berisha accused Socialist government of Prime Minister Edi Rama of corruption and inflated costs in major infrastructure projects across Albania.
He accused government of mismanaging public funds, specifically pointing to the Arbri Road, Tirana Ring Road, Vlora International Airport and other major infrastructure projects.
According to him, the Socialist government has “committed over 12 billion euros in infrastructure, yet the value of implemented projects is lower than one billion euros.”
He noted that DP has a plan to revive the country’s railway network and connect Albania with Kosovo with a new railway.
DP leader also promised support for rural infrastructure projects throughout Albania and investments in water supply systems
