TIRANA, March 1 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, also the leader of the Socialist Party, stated that the Justice Reform was designed and implemented by the Socialist Party.
During a meeting with the Socialist Assemblies of Kamza and units 7 and 10, Rama stated that this majority has ensured the independence of the judiciary.
He declared, “We are prepared to build a state with separated powers and an independent judiciary.”
Rama also retorted to recent accusations that the judiciary in Albania has been influenced by Soros.
“How did Soros manage it? They claim, ‘Soros had the opposition leader locked up.’ A billionaire devoted his life to capturing the swamp owl in Albania!” Rama remarked.
Prime Minister Rama also addressed the allegations that the judiciary is solely targeting the majority, stressing that it is natural for the judiciary to focus on the majority since it is in power. He pointed out that, in fact, the judiciary has not pursued the opposition, as it would have investigated the killings of January 21st if it had.
“I’m shocked when they ask for an explanation as if we are guilty for implementing such a reform. We knew who the judiciary would target, since we are in power. Who would the judiciary target, the dead or the swamp? The swamp hasn’t been addressed seriously. If there’s anything that needs to be dealt with in the swamp, it’s the blood from the killing of innocent people,” said Rama.
The Prime Minister pointed out that when it comes to the judiciary’s efforts in the fight against corruption, there is too much commotion, and a perception is being created that everyone is implicated.
He once again addressed the opposition’s accusations concerning the Secretary General of the Prime Minister’s Office, mentioning that he underwent a complex heart surgery and subsequently experienced a failure of lung function, requiring him to be placed on assisted breathing.
“For days, the doctors couldn’t say if he would recover. We released a statement. But how would this vast swamp know anything about a person? They claimed he had escaped from the judiciary, took his laptop, and then BKH and SPAK got involved. Now they continue to debate whether it really happened or not,” said Rama.
Additionally, Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that legal experts from the World Law Congress have described the work done by the Albanian government on the justice system as “exceptional.”
Rama announced that the experts from this Congress, which Albania will host in 2027, will follow up on the justice reform process and provide a report at the conclusion of the negotiation process. This report will be submitted to the EU to accelerate the ratification by member states.
