Coordination Protocol between CEC, SPAK, and Prosecutor General’s Office in run-up to elections

TIRANA, Feb 27 /ATA/ The State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi, the Prosecutor General, Olsian Çela, and the Chief Prosecutor of SPAK, Altin Dumani, signed on Thursday at the premises of the Central Election Commission (CEC) the Protocol for Coordination and Cooperation between the institutions they lead.

The purpose of this protocol is to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process for the 2025 Albanian Parliamentary Elections. It sets forth coordinated measures to prevent, identify, and prosecute criminal offenses related to elections.

The protocol aims to enhance collaboration between institutions to ensure a timely and efficient exchange of information among those responsible for prosecuting electoral criminal offenses. In this regard, the collective commitment of the signatory parties will facilitate effective coordination of investigative efforts, establishing sustainable mechanisms for the monitoring and legal prosecution of any case that jeopardizes the integrity of the electoral process.

Within this framework of cooperation, the participating institutions pledge to work consistently towards strengthening the electoral justice system, guaranteeing a fair electoral process free from external interference.

The signing of this protocol aims to increase transparency, strengthen public trust in the electoral process, and foster an environment where electoral violations are effectively prevented and punished. This cooperation will continue throughout the electoral period, with ongoing coordination among institutions, to ensure a free and fair process, in line with democratic principles and European Union standards. /j.p/sm/
