Berisha: Veliaj’s arrest is belated

TIRANA, February 13/ATA/ Chairman of the Democratic Party in opposition Sali Berisha considered today the arrest of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj as belated.

Being a guest to a television studio, Berisha stated that Veliaj’s arrest was expected in December 2024.

“It is a belated arrest. We have made 44 protests. There are 130 million euros for the Tirana incinerator alone and it does not exist. The arrest was expected in December, Rama did not want it at this moment”, said Berisha.

Asked about the arrest of former president Ilir Meta, Berisha said that, “Ilir Meta is in prison without any evidence and without any charges, only as a person under investigation; while Erion Veliaj is accused of having found a wardrobe of his wife equal to that of Assad”.

According to Berisha, customs invoices have been found and they are official documents that constitute indisputable evidence.

Further on, Berisha absolutely ruled out cooperation with Edi Rama on the Justice Reform.

“I will take the Venice Commission and it will be the referendum that will provide the answer. I cooperate with the Albanian citizens”, he added. /r.e/p.s./
