This donation of one new truck aims to enhance the waste management capacities of Prrenjas Municipality, with a focus on improving its waste collection infrastructure and contributing to a healthier environment. This project represents the first cooperation between the Embassy of Japan and Prrenjas Municipality.
The handover ceremony was held at the Municipal Hall of Prrenjas, in the presence of H.E. Ms. KATO Kikuko, Ambassador of Japan to Albania, Mr. Nuri Belba, Mayor of Prrenjas and other representatives from the Municipality. During the ceremony, Ambassador Kato conveyed her confidence that the new vehicle will enable the Municipality to provide garbage-collection service all over its area, thereby contributing to better conditions for its citizens by improving its administrative services. She mentioned that this is in line with pillars of Japan’s assistance policy toward Albania, that is “environment” and “equitable growth” throughout Albania. Mayor Belba expressed his appreciation to the people of Japan and the Ambassador for the support given to Prrenjas as well as to whole Albania.
In the field of waste management in Albania, the Government of Japan has been providing similar grants to the municipalities across the country for the provision of garbage trucks since 2018.
