TIRANA, January 29/ATA/ The Municipality of Tirana is working on materialization of the initiative to erect the statue of our National Hero, George Kastrioti Skanderbeg, in the square named after Skanderbeg in the French capital, Paris.
Thanks to the fruitful cooperation with the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo, this project aims to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries and promote the historical values of the Albanian nation in the international arena.
The statue will be a reproduction of the iconic work of the renowned Albanian sculptor Odhise Paskali, which was first inaugurated in January 1968 in Tirana’s central square, to mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Skanderbeg. The Municipality of Tirana, through the team of the Center for the Realization of Works of Art, is working to bring this masterpiece to its most perfect form, while preserving the authenticity and artistic power that it represents.
This project is part of a long-term strategy to promote Albanian art and history in the world. In recent years, the Municipality of Tirana has carried out similar projects, such as the erection of the statue of Skanderbeg in Budapest, Hungary, where it stands opposite the statue of the Hungarian hero Janos Hunyadi.
The inauguration ceremony of the statue in Paris is expected to take place soon, with the participation of well-known personalities from Albania and France, as well as representatives of the Albanian Diaspora in Europe. /j.p/p.s./
