Berisha outlines healthcare program: We will replicate German model

TIRANA, Jan 20 /ATA/ The DP head Sali Berisha outlined the healthcare program today. He highlighted that the DP plans to implement a comprehensive healthcare reform based on the German model.

“These policies are designed to provide Albanian citizens with fully affordable services. They will never be required to pay more than the regional average,” said Berisha.

Berisha added that the healthcare budget will be doubled.

“All stakeholders involved in concession-related crimes in the healthcare system, which have cost the budget 300 million euros, will be held accountable and concession contracts will be terminated immediately,” said Berisha.

The Democratic Party chairman went on saying that the DP government will ensure the provision of all medications and equipment for cancer patients.

Berisha stated that a “dedicated fund will be established through a tax on all recognized carcinogenic agents, such as tobacco, among others.”

“Secondly, it is entirely normal that a portion of the revenue from the national lottery be allocated to this disease. Another option is a collaboration between the institutes of Tirana, Pristina, and Skopje, a practice that makes it possible to place larger orders, and consequently at more reasonable prices. “
