Toll is enforced on Thumanë-Kashar route road starting from today

TIRANA, Jan 4 /ATA/ From today onward, drivers will pay toll on the Thumanë-Kashar road.

Six months after the route’s opening, the concession company has started charging tolls, beginning at 2.5 euros, with rates varying based on the vehicle category.

At the toll booths, the conversion from euros to lek will follow the exchange rate set by the Bank of Albania. As a result, a small car will pay 250 lek to travel on the Thumanë-Kashar highway.

Vehicles with 2-3 axles and a height of over 2.2 meters will pay 620 lek, while vehicles with 4 or more axles will pay 870 lek.

The toll fees will be reviewed annually based on fluctuations in the exchange rate.

The Thumanë-Kashar road, part of the Adriatic-Ionian corridor, opened for traffic on June 30, 2024. Spanning 21 kilometers, it is the first Category A highway, signifying not only European construction standards but also a distinct speed limit compared to other roads in the country.

Its path begins in Thumana, 150 meters inland from the existing 4-lane highway that connects Milot to Thumana toward Fushë–Kruja. The designed speed for this road is 130 kilometers per hour, and it includes 14 underpasses, 12 bridges, 3 overpasses, as well as emergency lanes on each side. /Euronews Albania/sm/
