School safety, Manastirliu: Action plan, smart cameras and digital education

TIRANA, December 5/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu have held other consultative meetings with parents, sharing new measures and projects in order to improve safety and quality in pre-university education.

The routine meeting was held at the 9-grade school “Halit Coka”, Kamza, where there were discussed topics affecting safety, technology and community involvement in the educational process.

This campaign aims to address the impact of social networks such as TikTok and Snapchat on children and young people, promoting awareness of their risks and consequences.

Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu focused on the round of public consultations with parents, where the latter have engaged in concrete steps that need to be taken to guarantee the safety of their students and children, to strengthen protective mechanisms.

“During these days, we have held 250 meetings and will continue discussing with each other. More than 7 thousand parents have been engaged so far, and their suggestions have been very valuable. One of the measures we will take is to strengthen legal instruments to limit or close uncontrolled platforms, such as TikTok,” said Manastirliu.

The minister also spoke about the services that are operational in schools today for the safety of students in schools, from psycho-social support and security officers.

“There are 240 security officers in schools and we will increase their number to 270 next year also planning to increase the number of social workers and psychologists. This will help prevent incidents of any form of violence or bullying, and we will be closer to students through social services,” emphasized Manastirliu.

Minister Manastirliu also focused on the modernization of curricula and the inclusion of digital education.

“We are working to create digital culture starting from the primary cycle. With ICT curricula, from the first grade, we are building a solid foundation for digital education. Through the SMIP system, we are working to ensure that parents receive periodic information not only about grades and absences, but also about the behavior, talent and inclinations of their children,” said Manastirliu.

This ongoing dialogue with parents aims to strengthen the teacher-parent-student triad and increase the efficiency of protective mechanisms in schools. /k.s/j.p/p.s./
