TIRANA, Dec 5 /ATA/ – Albania’s State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi, election officials and civil society organizations explored the artificial intelligence potential to improve electoral efficiency under a training programme funded by the Microsoft and OpenAI, and hosted by International IDEA through the support of the Central Election Commission.
“This unique initiative brought together election officials and civil society representatives from Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Armenia, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Moldova and Georgia, promoting cooperation and exchange of cross-border experiences,” State Election Commissioner Celibashi said.
Celibashi highlights that the program examined the interaction of AI (Artificial Intelligence) with electoral processes, focusing on ethical implications, human rights considerations, and the need to protect vulnerable and marginalized groups.
“Together, we explored ways how AI can enhance transparency and efficiency, while carefully addressing potential risks,” Celibashi said.
