Ibrahimaj: Thirty-eight bank branches and 42 ATMs vandalized; violence against businesses must come to an end

TIRANA, October 18 /ATSH/ – Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj has addressed the damage caused to businesses during student protests, calling for an end to acts of violence and the destruction of property.

In a statement on social media, the minister reported that 38 bank branches and 42 ATMs across the country have been damaged, disrupting daily services for citizens and businesses. She also shared photographs of businesses and facilities affected by the violence of the protesters.

Ibrahimaj emphasized that while students’ demands should be heard and taken seriously, the protests must not involve acts of destruction.

“On behalf of the student protest, the businesses, property—and in particular bank branches and ATMs—have been under attack for days,” the minister wrote.

She noted that the consequences extend beyond the damaged businesses, directly impacting the citizens who rely on their daily services. “No one gains from this violence; everyone will suffer the consequences,” stated Inbahimaj, concluding her response with a call to put an end to the situation. /a.f/p.s./
