Berisha pledges to increase average wage to 1200 euros, says Open Balkan destroyed thousands of Albanian farms

TIRANA, Dec 2 /ATA/ – The Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha pledged Monday to deliver on a proposal to set a living wage of 200 euros per month and increase the minimum wage to 500 euros if the main opposition party wins the next year’s parliamentary elections and seizes power.

Speaking at a roundtable meeting with experts from three DP finance, economy and entrepreneurship departments, Berisha also vowed to increase average monthly wage to 1200 euros a month and increase pensions by 20%.

“In its first state budget bill, DP will set a living wage of 200 euros and such wage is actually three times lower than one paid out in Italy. Pensions will see an increase by 20% until they double, whereas the minimum monthly wage will edge up to 500 euros. The average wage will rise to 1200 euros, while the maximum wage will remain unchanged,” Berisha stated.

According to Berisha, the purchasing power of pensions is 30 to 40% lower than in 2013 due to high  inflation rate.

DP leader also vowed to deliver on major infrastructure projects and cut taxes and tariffs on businesses and households.

Berisha claimed that the Open Balkan destroyed thousands of farms across Albania and pledged to put an end to this regional cooperation project.
