TIRANA, Nov 26 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – A significantly higher year-end bonus will be paid out to around 700,000 retired people across Albania starting on second week of December, providing everyone the opportunity to withdraw a one-time sum payment of 100 euros and 150 euros ahead of the year-end holidays, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Tuesday.
Addressing a meeting in the mining town of Bulqiza, PM Rama underlined that the decision to treble the year-end bonus for the retired people was unimaginable just two or three years ago, but it became a reality after the country’s economic growth.
“The government will allocate a direct funding of 100 million euros in state budget money for pensioners. The retirees with a pension up to 20 000 lek will receive a bonus of 150 euros, whereas retirees with higher pension will receive 100 euros ahead of the year-end holidays. The bonus distribution will begin on second week of the next month,” PM Rama said.
The government head also said that a new pension fund will be created and a second bonus to pensioners next spring will be announced in the next few days, highlighting the country’s stable economic growth as the reason behind this initiative.
Rama described the bonus as a “spring gift,” aimed at providing immediate support to retirees.
“Economic growth allows us to set a spring bonus, which we will maintain during our fourth term in office,” he stated
