Albania opposition protest expected to block roads, cause traffic disruption in Tirana

TIRANA, Nov 26 /ATA/ – The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) will stage a protest in the Albanian capital on Tuesday.

The protest, part of the opposition’s civil disobedience campaign through road blockage and traffic disruption, is aimed at pressing the government to establish an interim caretaker administration to oversee the next year’s parliamentary elections in the country.

DP officials have already hinted that the protest will be held in several main roads in Tirana

The protest is set to kick off at 5:00 PM and last until 8:00 PM. Demonstrators plan to block several key roads, which are expected to cause significant traffic disruptions throughout the city.

DP leader, Sali Berisha, told a rally last evening that “the protest is a major civil disobedience action, through which we are telling the narcostate that the technical government is the only way to ensure free and fair elections next year.”
