TIRANA, Nov 19 /ATA/ – Albania’s Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime on Tuesday upheld a ruling against former President Ilir Meta, rejecting his appeal to overturn a detention order.
The Court also confirmed a “compulsory notice of appearance before a judicial police” for lawmaker Monika Kryemadhi.
The court confirmed earlier decisions issued in October, maintaining the Special Court of First Instance ruling.
The judge presiding over the case ruled that the measures applied to both Meta and Kryemadhi were lawful.
After the court hearing, lawmaker Monika Kryemadhi told reporters that the prosecutors’ arguments were based on falsifications.
The decision comes as Albania faces international pressure to tackle corruption and organised crime, with the government pledging stronger enforcement in high-profile cases.
