TIRANA, Nov 8 /ATA/ – The Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro announced Friday that work is underway and an online tourism data dashboard E-visitor will become operational next year to provide statistics and help to monitor the country’s tourism sector in real time.
“Another important project lead by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment is creation of an online statistics platform set to be called E-visitor, which will provide accurate, accessible real-time tourism data for every private and public operators and interest groups to refer to. The platform will structure all critical tourism data from various sources, including tourists’ origin, data on visitors’ accommodation, tourism surveys and preferences, and it would help the Ministry of Tourism plan its policies, and will also provide valuable information for INSTAT, the State Police, customs and tax administrations, local government authorities etc. The platform will provide real-time data and will help the efforts to fight informality in tourism sector,” Kumbaro said.
“The tourism strategy, already under the public consultation process, and the tourism data dashboard will complete within 2025 and the two are being created through a project co-funded by the German government and the World Bank through the Albanian Development Fund,” she added.
Tourism Minister underlined that developing the tourism data platform is a must in order to collect clear data mainly from the two major platforms AirBNB and Bookiing.com, which show a growing tourist influx in the last few years..
