Opposition to join discussions on 2025 state budget bill in parliament

TIRANA, Nov 5 /ATA/ –  The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) announced Tuesday it will return to normal parliamentary life after weeks of civil disobedience and parliamentary boycott to engage in discussions on the proposed state budget bill for 2025.

In a statement to reporters, the Chairman of the DP parliamentary group Gazment Bardhi affirmed that the opposition lawmakers will join discussions on the main financial document of the year in parliamentary committees, emphasizing the importance of opposition involvement in the budget process.

“I avail myself this opportunity to affirm that we are inside parliament starting today. Lawmakers will do their job in parliamentary committees to show Albanians the state budget Edi Rama has proposed. Those who inexplicably called on the opposition to be inside the parliament, I really wish they would be courageous enough to ask Edi Rama let the opposition do its duty in parliament,” Bardhi stated.

“This is the last budget of this corrupt government. It requires the commitment of opposition MPs to transform the debt of oligarchs into a budget for the citizens. Only opposition MPs can play this role,” Bardhi added.

However, Bardhi stated that the move doesn’t mean that DP will return to normal parliamentary life.
