TIRANA, October 28/ATA/ The Assembly of Albania held its routine plenary session this afternoon, which lasted only 20 minutes, after the MPs of the Democratic Party in opposition blocked the rostrum with placards in their hands.
Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Blendi Çuçi said at the beginning of the session that, “During this week, the government has submitted 3 draft laws to the Assembly, as well as the draft law for the 2025 budget”.
Çuçi also announced that by a letter from the Chairman of the Parliamentary group of the Socialist Party, it is proposed that Evis Kushi be appointed as a substitute member of the Albania-EU Association Stabilization Parliamentary Committee.
At the beginning of the session, the MPs approved the minutes of the plenary session of October 17.
In context of the green week, some of the majority MPs discussed the issues identified by voters and citizens on the ground.
Vice Speaker Çuçi said at the end of the session that the MPs will be notified by public means for the meeting of the next session.
The Democratic Party MPs blocking the rostrum is in the framework of their civil disobedience action declared since the prison sentence of MP Ervin Salianji. On September 30, the opposition MPs even set the chairs of the Assembly on fire after taking them out into the yard, while in other sessions there were also physical confrontations among the MPs in the hall.
After the suspension of the MPs for burning the chairs, the remaining DP MPs in the plenary session have chosen to block the rostrum holding placards in their hands. At the beginning of the session, there were taken measures to avoid any other clash. /k.s/p.s./
