TIRANA, Oct 28 /ATA/ – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, has revealed Albania’s goal to join the European Union before 2030.
In a televised interview with Alsat in North Macedonia on Sunday, Foreign Minister put emphasis on importance of speeding up the EU-related reform agenda to deliver on the country’s target to join the bloc even before 2030.
“Not only is 2030 real, but the reforms will be accelerated so that this date gets closer,” Hasani is quoted as saying by the Albanian Radio and Television during an interview with the media in North Macedonia.
Foreign Minister said that Albania’s success is closely tied to the progress of its neighbors, including North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, all of which must advance in their EU integration efforts.
Commenting on the recent arrests of former President Ilir Meta and several senior officials, Hasani affirmed that “judicial reform is the biggest commitment that the Albanian state has had since independence in 1912.”
