TIRANA, October 25/ATA/ The beauties of Albania, from the peaks of the rugged Alps, the enchanting shores of the Albanian Riviera and the Adriatic, UNESCO heritage sites, cultural and natural heritage monuments, national parks, beautiful tourist villages from north to south, culinary and traditional products attracted 9.7 million foreigners during the 9 months of the current year.
The Institute of Statistics, INSTAT, published today the report on the movement of citizens, according to which the number of foreigners who visited our country during the January-September period reached 9,680,030 citizens, or 16.7% more than in the same period last year when our country was visited by 8,294,600 citizens.
Over 90% of the foreigners have entered the Albanian territory for personal purposes, where entries for vacations, visits to relatives, etc. dominate.
Over 9.2 million foreigners who visited our country were from Europe, about 260 thousand were American citizens and over 77 thousand were from East Asia and the Pacific.
Meanwhile, the figures show the trend towards year-round tourism. Only in September, the number of foreign citizens who entered the Albanian territory is 1,146,090. This number has increased by 3.8%, compared to the same period of 2023.
During the 9-month period of the current year, there has been a significant increase in the entry of foreign citizens for business and professional purposes, by about 57%. /j.p/p.s./
