TIRANA, October 14 /ATA/ Many local and foreign tourists explored the nature trails from Kukësi to Gjirokastra during the last the weekend.

Accompanied by guides from the staff of 12 Protected Areas Administrations, they had unique experiences of nature and cultural tourism.

Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro shared in the social media photos from the guide provided by the Regional Administration of Protected Areas Durrës which show local and foreign tourists who have a taste of the beauties of the Diga Boville-Shpella e Gamti trail, among the most frequented in the Mount Dajti National Park.

Dragobi-Valbona, Peshkopi-Rabdisht, Buna Bridge-Taraboshi Mount, Kuna Island Trail, Boville Dam-Gamti Cave, Dajt Terrace-Dajt Castle were also part of the exploration during the weekend.

Nature tourism is rather favorite of local and foreign visitors, as our country has a rugged terrain from the south to the north of the territory.

Following the interest, but also the problems encountered by the high number of trails, the National Agency of Protected Areas is working to create the first official state website called “Albanian trails”. This website will provide all those interested with the necessary information for selecting and then following the natural paths, part of the network of protected areas.

In the January-September period of the current year, 4.5 million foreign tourists visited the protected areas, marking an 18% increase compared to the same period in 2023. /k.s/r.e/a.f/p.s./
