TIRANA, October 10/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that Albania and Türkiye aim to reach the ceiling of 2 billion euros in their trade exchanges.
During a joint statement with the visiting President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Rama thanked the Turkish President for his visit to Albania today.
“First of all, I would like to say thank you and the most sincere expression of gratitude for today’s visit in Tirana, together with a considerable part of his government team”, Rama said.
“I am really very pleased that we held the second meeting of the High Level Cooperation Council, where we not only confirmed the determination to further strengthen the strategic character of this cooperation, but we were also able to evaluate the concrete implementation of the agreements made so far as well as the extraordinary potential of this relationship”, emphasized Rama.
“The President of the Republic of Türkiye repeats every time we meet, and quite rightly, that the level of trade exchanges between Türkiye and Albania does not properly reflect the potential between the two countries. And as you heard from him, our ambition is to reach the ceiling of 2 billion euros, to then open a second phase with even more development of these exchanges”, added Rama.
Rama also said that the number of Turkish citizens who have visited Albania during the first 8 months of the current year has increased by 85%.
“On the other hand, seeing the daily growing interest of the agencies and tourist operators of the friendly country, we are confident that next year the number of Turkish citizens who will visit Albania will be even more impressive”, said Rama.
In this regard, Rama added, “The President reiterated, and we definitely fully agreed, that more should be done for direct investments from the Turkish side in the tourism sector, where as we are all aware, Türkiye has made a stunning transformation into a country that not only welcomes millions and millions of tourists, but also has a know-how capacity at the level of excellence that would be very valuable for us”.
Rama also praised the signing of the agreement for the Technical University of Istanbul in Tirana.
“Today, we signed several agreements, but the most important and somewhat long-awaited from our side was the signing of the agreement for the Technical University of Istanbul in Tirana”, said Rama.
The head of the government emphasized that, “Istanbul Technical University is ranked among the best of the world. On the other hand, it is the first time in the practice of the Republic of Türkiye that it does something like this, and this simply and only thanks to the commitment of President Erdogan to this fraternal relationship”.
Therefore, added Rama, I want to thank him specifically for this agreement signed today and I wish that the people who will deal with implementation of the agreement will have at least half the energy and insistence of the President because it would be unrealistic to ask them for an equal energy”. /p.s./
