TIRANA, September 13/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama highlighted today the importance of security officers in the country’s schools describing them as, “The eyes and ears of the parents themselves”.
During the meeting organized at the “Kosova” school in Tirana” regarding security in schools while 240 security officers have already been engaged throughout the country, Rama said that, “In 2019, there was launched the project for the introduction of the school security officer as a result of acute concerns expressed by teachers, school leaders and parents. It started as a project and today it has taken shape and has given us all the reasons to see an important change and to understand that we need to strengthen security in schools even more. We have also made an increase in the salary of the officer in schools as they are paid 800 euros per month. It’s not a matter of policemen; they are qualified people in the field of security”.
PM Rama emphasized that, “The security officers are in the place of parents who observe children from afar, who take care to understand their concerns, who try to find problems by following the interactions between them, approach the children to advise them, help them to make a right decision at a moment when there is a misunderstanding, who maintain close relations with the school leaders and teachers and who are the eyes and ears of the parents themselves with the child”.
The police officers, Rama added, have a mission to get to know each child by name, to know by looking in what mood, psychological situation the child is in, and this is a very complicated job that requires a close interaction with psychologists.
Rama said that, “We have appointed psychologists in the school; today we have hundreds of psychologists attached to the schools, the need to increase the quality of the performance of these two figures is very clear to us and it is a fact that these two figures are in the school to help the students”. /k.s/p.s./
