Begaj in Estonia: We support each other in common challenges

TIRANA, September 6/ATA/ During his stay in Estonia, President Bajram Begaj held special meetings with Prime Minister Kristen Michal, Speaker of the Parliament Lauri Hussar and with other authorities. He talked about promotion of bilateral cooperation and strengthening the alliance as countries lined up on the right side of history so that to face common challenges and guarantee security, peace and development.

During the talks with PM Michal, Begaj said that the visit has been very fruitful and evidence of Albania’s full commitment to strengthen relations between the two countries.

President Begaj emphasized that the geographical distance between Albania and Estonia does not make any obstacle for countries that protect international law and does not hinder the strengthening of economic cooperation, the growth of investments and tourism.

“Let’s strengthen our friendship by expanding the paths of economic cooperation while supporting each other in the common challenges we face”, – emphasized President Begaj during the talks with PM Michal, whom he thanked for helping Albania after the cyber-attack of 2022 and assistance for administrative reforms.

Focusing on Albania-Estonia relations over the years, the President of the Republic thanked PM Michal for his support in the process of Albania’s full membership in the EU and for his role as a “strong advocate for the expansion of the Union with the Western Balkans.”

The president reiterated the stance that the European Union at this moment has a strategic need to expand in the Western Balkans in the face of the risk of the influence of third actors in the region. Albania, – he emphasized, – has confirmed its steadfast loyalty to Euro-Atlantic policies and recently proved this by supporting Ukraine.

Meanwhile, in the meeting with Speaker of the Parliament Hussar and the Chairman of the Estonian-Albanian Friendship Parliamentary Group Eerik-Niiles Kross, there was emphasized the need to increase cooperation through the Parliamentary groups.

Mayor of the capital Tallinn Jevgeni Ossinovski and Urmas Klaas, mayor of the city of Tartu offered special reception in honor of President Begaj.

During his stay in Estonia, Begaj visited the most important centers of information technology in Tallinn as well as the University of Tartu at the Defense College of the Baltic States. /p.s./
