TIRANA, September 3 /ATA/ The European Union delegation congratulated today Albania for the achievements identified by “OECD IN 2024” in several areas such as anti-corruption, education and employment.
Through a post in the social media, the Delegation emphasized that the policymakers must double efforts in areas where progress has lagged behind, such as in the management of state-owned enterprises or in increasing spending on technology, research and innovation.
“According to the OECD IN 2024 Albania scores above the regional average in several areas such as anti‑corruption, education and employment – kudos for that! At the same time policy makers need to double up efforts in areas where progress is lagging behind, such as in the governance of state owned enterprises, or in increasing expenditures on technology, research and innovation”, is read in the press release of the Delegation.
EU Ambassador to Albania Silvio Gonzato stated that the European Union will continue to support the country in its efforts for reforms and sustainable growth.
“The Competitiveness Outlook clearly underlines that there is a lot of untapped potential for regional cooperation across the Western Balkans. The EU’s Growth Plan aims to provide new incentives in this area. Strengthening good governance and rule of law is crucial for Albania’s economic growth. It is promising that under this plan Albania commits to create a more transparent investment framework. The EU will continue to support the country in its reform and sustainable growth efforts”, said the EU Ambassador to Albania Silvio Gonzato. /r.e/p.s./
