TIRANA, September 1 /ATA/ The Ministry of Defense reported today about the fire situation in the country saying that in the last 24 hours, there have been reported 27 fires.
According the National Agency of Civil Protection, after an uninterrupted work of operational forces on the ground, it became possible to completely isolate and extinguish 22 wildfires, while 5 are active.
Currently, there are efforts underway to extinguish the fires in the village of Shengjin, Mirditë municipality, where the flames have engulfed an area of pine trees and bushes. The very difficult terrain and the strong wind favor the flames that are moving towards the village of Lajthizë, Orosh municipal unit.
The situation is being monitored with priority by the local forces of the municipality of Mirdita. A group from the Fire Protection and Rescue Service in Lezhë and 30 officers of the Armed Forces with two fire engines have gone to help.
In Frakth village of Mat municipality, there was a fire burning on a steep rocky terrain, where there are being burnt wood remains on the surface of a beech tree forest. The situation is under control and there is no risk of spread. /m.m/r.e/p.s./
