Mayor Veliaj: TEDA Tirana to create around 5000 high-paying jobs

TIRANA, July 16 /ATA/ – A technological and economic development area (TEDA) in Tirana, Albania’s first free zone, is taking its final shape.

The Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj inspected the work on construction of the new road to the technological area and said that a marketing campaign will follow in a bid to attract a large number of businesses once the lighting and entire civil infrastructure is in place.

Mayor Veliaj noted that “TEDA Tirana will take the city’s local government to a whole new level, with the municipality no longer constructing schools and kindergartens only, but also thinking about the projects of the future.”

“As soon as the lighting, water and wastewater systems complete, we are ready to embark on a broad marketing campaign to promote the economic zone and attract as many businesses as possible. Located between Tirana’s Kashar and Vaqarr neighbourhood, this is Albania’s largest economic and industrial area under management of a public entity like the Municipality of Tirana and the project will take local governance to a whole new dimension,” Veliaj said.

Veliaj noted that TEDA is expected to attract complex manufacturing sectors like automobile, ICT, and electronic equipment industries. Mayor Veliaj underlined that the technological and economic development area will create more than 5000 high-paying jobs for local residents and many others.

TEDA is a game changer for the Albanian economy and it offers a huge potential for further development and attraction of foreign investors.
