TIRANA, July 3 /ATA/ Inflation is expected to hover around current levels during the remainder of 2024 and gradually increase towards the target during the first half of 2025.
This is what the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, told the media today, noting that, “inflation in the second 3 months of 2024 dropped rapidly, registering an average level of 2.1%, dictated by the growth of the supply of food items in the regional markets and in the local market.”
The governor said that this decline was somewhat faster than the Central Bank’s expectations.
Sejko informed that, from the macroeconomic point of view, the downward trend of inflation continues to reflect the reduction of imported inflation to the greatest extent.
“On the other hand, domestic inflation appears relatively stable, reflecting both the solid demand for goods and services, as well as the rapid increase in wages and production costs,” said Sejko.
