TIRANA, June 21 /ATA/ A major cleanup action has been taking place throughout the city of Vlora for four days and of course in the coastal area.
Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, while sharing a video from the on the site inspection of the mayor of Vlora, Ermal Dredha, appealed today to businesses and citizens to keep the environment clean and throw the waste in the bins.
“The municipality can work day in and day out together with the forces of the National Coastal Agency, as has been happening since June 15, but we can’t succeed if we don’t have the support of every citizen who doesn’t throw waste away but in the relevant bin and every business, that does not throw the waste in the small bins dedicated to residents and vacationers, overflowing them, but manages them and takes them out on a schedule,” Kumbaro said in a post on social media.
Mayor Dredha said that “we are cleaning the area from Kalaja to Orikum. We engaged not only the Directorate of Public Services, which is always on the ground, but also the companies that cover this territory.”
“We want to sensitize the whole community to be more attentive, not to throw garbage where they can”, said Dredha.
We, added the mayor, are in charge of the work, but the community must also be made aware.
Operation “Clean Beaches” for cleaning up the coast has started in all the coastal municipalities of Himarë, Vlorë, Sarandë, Rrogozhinë, Kavajë, Durrës and Shkodër.
Through this operation, the National Coastal Agency joins municipal teams with additional cleaning equipment and human resources, doubling capacity along the coastline of these municipalities.
