Assembly holds plenary session amid tension caused by opposition MPs

TIRANA, June 6/ATA/ Head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary group in opposition Gazment Bardhi demanded today to convene the Conference of Chairs and to include in the agenda of today’s Parliament proceedings of the motion with debate requested by him on the investigation report of the Rai 3 and security in the country.

Speaker of the Assembly Lindita Nikolla put the opposition’s request for a motion with debate on vote and the MPs of the ruling majority rejected it by vote.

This caused tensions in the hall, forcing Speaker Nikolla to interrupt the session.

Earlier, Speaker of the Assembly Lindita Nikolla expelled from today’s session the MP of the Democratic Party Flamur Noka for the inappropriate language he used in the session.

The harsh debates came after Head of the DP Parliamentary group Gazment Bardhi requested to include the former prime minister Sali Berisha into the list of the DP Parliamentary group.

Speaker Nikolla rejected his request arguing that Berisha’s exclusion from the DP group was a party decision. She was referring to the formal DP fraction under Basha and not the Refoundation Committee of the DP.

However, the DP MPs in the hall reacted against this stance and blocked the rostrum with accusations against Speaker of the Parliament Nikolla./p.s./
