TIRANA, June 4 /ATA/ The Chairperson of the Parliamentary European Affairs Committee, Jorida Tabaku, made critical remarks regarding the government’s work in the integration process at the committee meeting.
Tabaku focused on the Berlin Process which, according to her, is centered on the citizens and the transformative development of the countries of the Western Balkans.
“I have urged for a long time now that this process should go beyond the Government and be regarded as a national process. What are the measures that the Albanian government has taken to engage in an open discussion with the Albanian citizens, to make this process for the people rather than focus it on politics? What are the measures you have taken for discussion with civil society? During the discussion with civil society organizations at the committee meeting, they have brought up the concern that their feedback is not included in the documents you put up for consultation,” Tabaku said.
Tabaku spoke about the measures presented by the government to the committee and how monitoring is done.
“The fight against corruption has been one of the key priorities of any government, but people see the difference in facts, not in words, and facts certainly speak differently,” she said.
