TIRANA, May 27 /ATA/ Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Anila Denaj said that for the first 5 years, no producer who wants to certify his typical product will pay any tariff.
The typical “Made in Albania” products are the traditional specialties of the ancestors, unchanged to nowadays. Their certification as guaranteed traditional specialties, with geographical indications or products of origin, makes these products valuable assets of the Albanian cuisine and tourist offer.
Taking the floor in the plenary session of the Assembly, Denaj spoke about the support addressed to the agriculture sector and farmers.
Specifically, she said, “Together with representatives of the FAO, we recently enabled a new process to combat a parasitic wasp that threatens local chestnut trees, which is a national asset and a product from which a significant part of families in Tropoja benefit economic income”.
“The biological fight for the protection of the chestnut from diseases is a new method, different from the one with pesticides that was used before”, said Denaj.
According to her, Albania has the largest chestnut forest in the Balkans, nearly a third of which in Tropoja. The chestnut forest extends over an area of 10,000 hectares, 30% of which is located in Tropoja.
Being aware, she continued, of the existing problems, we are convinced that we have laid the foundations for addressing them and strengthening our institutions.
“In the framework of integration, we are looking at the alignment of legislation with the EU. At present, we have advanced digital processes where 95% of these services are performed online and at no cost. At present, 19 services are offered online for farmers and we are in the process of adding 25 other services; thus, through offering the services online we have saved agricultural producers 600 working days”, said Denaj./p.s./
