PM Rama: Shocked at heinous attack on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico

TIRANA, May 15 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed shock at the heinous attack on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Wednesday.

In a statement via the social media, Rama wished Slovak PM a speedy recovery.

“Shocked from the terrible news of the heinous attack on the elected Prime Minister of Slovakia, a great survivor and dear friend to whom I wish a quick recovery and another spectacular comeback,” PM Rama said.

Slovak PM Robert Fico was shot multiple times and sustained life-threatening wounds in an apparent assassination attempt after a government meeting in Handlova earlier today.

Fico won a third term as Slovak Prime Minister last October after running a campaign criticizing Western support for Ukraine.

Ahead of elections, Fico expressed sympathy for the Kremlin and blamed “Ukrainian Nazis and fascists” for provoking Russia’s President Putin into launching the invasion, repeating the narrative Putin has used to justify his invasion.

While in opposition, Fico became a close ally of Hungary’s Prime Minister Victor Orbán, especially when it came to criticism of the EU.
