TIRANA, May 9 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ The Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union in Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, said on Thursday that “the European Union has given clear signals that it must complete the process of integration with the countries of the region.”
Present at the activity organized by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in the framework of the Europe Day, Gonzato said that the EU has already understood that it must complete the integration process.
But, according to the ambassador, “all the countries of the Western Balkans must advance the reforms required by the European Union.”
“There are clear signals from Brussels that we are in another moment of the enlargement process. We have understood that we must complete the integration process. We are integrating an important part of Europe in this fantastic project. The signals are clear, the opening of accession negotiations not only with Albania, with Bosnia – Herzegovina, with North Macedonia and the speed at which the member states and the EP have agreed on the Growth Plan, but also on the reforms that are key to building this type of society that we ask,” said Gonzato.
Speaking about the Growth Plan, Gonzato said that “the idea is the integration of countries with each other.”
“All things seem to be heading for business, but it cannot be so without addressing the divisions in the region,” he said.
Speaking about the European integration process of Albania, the Ambassador said that “the way is now open.”
“The screening of the legislation has been carried out and Albania and the EU itself have managed to identify the gaps,” he added.
