Rama: Judicial independence from political power

TIRANA, May 7/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that in Albania present-day justice acts in an independent way from the political power.

During the extended meeting with the Parliamentary group and the Cabinet, PM Rama said that, “However, we have not defeated corruption yet, but we have only entered and are in the middle of a real war against corruption.”

“The Constitution carries the relevant legal space while the judiciary is on top of the salary hierarchy,” said Rama.

According to the prime minister, “The prosecutors and judges get the highest salary. We have done this fully aware so that to strengthen the anti-corruption effort of the Albanian state”.

“As a matter of fact, we have not defeated corruption yet, nor has our ruling force gained immunity from corruption. Even though we have cleaned a lot, there is still a lot more to clean even within our party”, added Rama./p.s./
