After five months of chaos, Assembly is back to normality

TIRANA, March 21 /ATA/ After five months of chaos, the Assembly of Albania is back to normality today as the lawmakers gathered in plenary session following the agreement reached between the ruling Socialist Party and the Democratic Party Re-foundation Committee during the Chairs Conference.

The opposition lawmakers agreed to give up the scenario of blocking the proceedings of the Assembly after getting guarantees of the ruling majority for the setting up of two investigative commissions that require a qualified majority.

The term of the Electoral Reform Commission also ends today.

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party Bledi Çuçi, praised the return of the opposition to Parliament and the end of what he called an “absurd action”.

In the speech delivered at today’s session, Çuçi said, “I welcome the return of my colleagues to normality and the end of their absurd action. It seems that they have started reading polls, but regardless of the reasons that made them return, a normal Parliamentary life is to be congratulated”./p.s./
